Terms of service

Locanta is operated by Discover Locanta Limited ("Discover Locanta", "we", "us"), a company registered in the United Kingdom, trading as Locanta. When you use the Locanta website or app, or subscribe to a paid plan, you are entering into an agreement with Discover Locanta Limited.

By creating an account, browsing Locanta, listing a business or purchasing a subscription, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the service. Continued use after we update these terms means you accept the updated version. You confirm you are of legal age, and — if you are acting for a business — that you are authorised to bind that business.

Your use of Locanta is also governed by our privacy notice and cookie policy, which form part of these terms.

You need an account to swipe, save and review. Keep your login details secure; you are responsible for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it up to date. One account per person.

You must not misuse Locanta. In particular, you must not:

• use the service unlawfully, or for fraud, spam or misleading promotion;
• infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy rights;
• upload malware, probe, scan or otherwise interfere with our security;
• scrape, harvest or bulk-extract listings, reviews or user data;
• reverse engineer, resell or circumvent technical limits of the service.

• Only list a business you genuinely own or are authorised to represent.
• Details, photos and opening hours must be accurate and yours to publish.
• We may ask for proof of ownership or authorisation before approving a listing, or at any time while it is live.
• We may approve, reject, suspend or permanently remove any listing at our sole discretion where it breaches these terms, contains misleading information, appears fraudulent, or could harm users or the integrity of the platform.

Reviews must reflect a real, genuine customer experience. You keep ownership of what you post and grant us a limited, worldwide licence to host, display and process it solely to operate and promote the service.

• Businesses must not offer incentives, discounts or rewards in exchange for positive reviews.
• You must not create fake accounts to review businesses.
• We may remove any review or rating we believe is manipulated, fake, misleading, abusive or defamatory.

By uploading photos, logos, videos or other content, you confirm that you own the necessary rights or have permission to publish them, and you grant Discover Locanta Limited a non-exclusive licence to display that content while operating and promoting the service.

Discover Locanta Limited retains all rights in the Locanta platform, including its software, design, database, documentation and branding. Your subscription grants a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service within your selected plan; it transfers no ownership.

Locanta provides a platform for discovering local businesses. We do not endorse, guarantee or independently verify every business listed, or the goods and services they offer.

You remain responsible for carrying out your own research before buying anything from a business you find on Locanta. Discover Locanta Limited accepts no responsibility for disputes between users and businesses.

Locanta is designed to help businesses increase their visibility and connect with potential customers. We do not guarantee any specific number of views, enquiries, bookings, customers, sales or revenue.

Business performance depends on many factors outside Discover Locanta Limited's control, including:

• the quality and completeness of your listing;
• your pricing;
• competition in your area and sector;
• customer demand; and
• your location.

Any testimonials, examples, case studies or promotional materials shown on Locanta are illustrative only and must not be interpreted as guarantees of future results.

We work hard to keep Locanta running, but we do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, and features may change over time. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

Discover Locanta Limited is not responsible for delays or interruptions to the service caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including:

• internet or network outages;
• cloud hosting or third-party provider failures;
• cyber attacks;
• natural disasters and severe weather;
• government action, law changes or regulatory intervention;
• power or other utility failures.

These events do not create any liability for Discover Locanta Limited.

Paid plans (Grow and Pro) are billed monthly and renew automatically until cancelled. Prices are shown inclusive of applicable taxes at checkout.

Eligible customers receive a 7-day free trial when subscribing to a paid plan. Unless cancelled before the trial ends, the subscription automatically converts into a paid monthly subscription. Free trials are limited to one per customer and may be withdrawn if abused.

We may change subscription pricing in the future. Existing subscribers will receive reasonable advance notice before any pricing change takes effect.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, cancellation and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms (opens in a new tab).

We may suspend or terminate access for material breach of these terms, non-payment, or security and fraud risk. Examples of behaviour that can lead to suspension include:

• abusing free trials, including repeat trials across accounts;
• creating fake or duplicate accounts;
• manipulating reviews or ratings;
• repeated spam or unsolicited promotion;
• fraud or payment chargeback abuse;
• impersonating a person or business;
• attempting to bypass plan limits or other platform restrictions;
• misusing business listings, including listing businesses you do not represent.

You may close your account at any time from Settings. On termination, your listing is unpublished and your data is deleted or anonymised in line with our privacy notice.

Nothing here limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, our aggregate liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Where the law allows, Discover Locanta Limited is not liable for:

• lost profits;
• lost business or business opportunities;
• indirect damages;
• loss of reputation or goodwill;
• loss or corruption of data;
• any other consequential losses.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. We may update these terms as Locanta grows; material changes will be announced in the app's release notes.
